The previous Epson Expression Home XP-5100 has been replaced by the new Epson Expression Home XP-5200, a colour inkjet all-in-one printer intended for home usage. It is compatible with Epson’s Smart Panel mobile companion software, supports Mopria Print Service and Apple AirPrint, and includes USB and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Its scanner can handle papers up to 8.5″ by 11″, however it doesn’t have a fax machine or an automatic document feeder. It works with Epson’s 222 ink cartridges It takes four ink cartridges: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.

Domestic use

For family use, the Epson Expression Home XP-5200 works well. Despite the fact that its ink cartridges empty quickly, you won’t have to worry too much about expensive maintenance because they’re not that expensive. Its Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, along with its compatibility for Mopria Print Service and Apple AirPrint, make it simple for every member of the household to use the printer. Printed images appear vivid and realistic, but they have a lot of grain and aren’t really color accurate. Positively, the scanner generates excellent scans, which is excellent for photo digitization.

Office use

For small scale businesses, the Epson Expression Home XP-5200 is a suitable device. It produces high-quality documents and prints decently fast; however, it requires a lot of maintenance as the ink cartridges run out quickly. It also only has a flatbed scanner, which makes scanning documents with several pages laborious and time-consuming. It lacks an Ethernet port, which could be an issue for offices that depend on wired networks even if it includes USB and Wi-Fi connectivity.

For students

For student use, the Epson Expression Home XP-5200 is an adequate fit. Printing from a variety of devices is made simple by its Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, as well as its compatibility for Mopria Print Service and Apple AirPrint. It prints documents in excellent quality, both in black and colour, and you won’t have to wait long to print lengthy papers or essays because of its respectable overall printing speed.

Although its ink cartridges don’t print too much, you’ll need to replace them frequently, but their modest cost keeps up with your maintenance expenses. Sadly, it just has a flatbed scanner, and closing the lid over larger objects like textbooks is difficult due to the lack of extending lid hinges.

Black and white printing

Printed documents in black and white with the Epson Expression Home XP-5200 are of passable quality. It generates documents of good quality at a respectable 15 pages per minute and operates fairly quickly. Its black ink cartridge runs out quickly, so you’ll need to change it frequently, but because ink cartridges are so inexpensive, the cost per print stays low. Sadly, its flatbed scanner is the only one available, so scanning lengthy documents with multiple pages can take a long time.

Photo printing

For printing photos, the Epson Expression Home XP-5200 works fairly well. It accepts a range of paper sizes up to 8.5″ x 11″ and prints on glossy paper. Printed images have a lot of graininess and appear complex and vivid, but they lack color accuracy. The ink cartridges run out rapidly, so it needs a lot of maintenance, but the cost per print is still reasonable due of how inexpensive the cartridges are.
