The HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe is an all-in-one monochrome printer. For small organizations that mostly print in black and white but occasionally need to scan some simple text documents, it’s a great alternative. It provides numerous text pages with solely black text at a very cheap cost per print. Its resolution is limited to 600 DPI for the flatbed scanner and 300 DPI for the automatic document feeder. Sadly, there isn’t a duplex scanning option, which could be annoying if you regularly need to scan lengthy, double-sided papers.

For domestic use

Family use of the HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe is not recommended. Colour printing is not possible, and images have a lot of banding and are grainy. Despite having a flatbed scanner, its maximum resolution of 600 DPI would not be sufficient to scan a document with fine details, such as a photo or pencil sketch.

For office use

For office use, the HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe is a letdown. Due to its sluggish printing speed and lack of duplex scanning functionality, scanning double-sided documents could be laborious since you would have to turn each sheet over by hand. Furthermore, if you need to print graphs or diagrams in color, the inability to print in color could be a problem. While it includes a flatbed scanner and an ADF, the resolution maxes at 600 DPI and 300 DPI, respectively. Positively, this well-made printer offers a low cost per print and a good page yield.

For students

For students, the HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe is mediocre. It prints slowly, and it takes some time for the first page to appear. It also doesn’t support printing from a USB thumb drive or Bluetooth, nor can it print in color. Positively, it offers multiple wireless connectivity choices and an extremely low cost-per-print.

Black and white printing

The HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe is ideal for black and white printing. It prints text pages terribly slowly, yet it has a large page yield and a very low cost per print. It’s a sturdy laser type with simple access to the toner cartridge and paper jams. In addition, there is an automated document feeder and a flatbed scanner. Sadly, it isn’t capable of duplex scanning, which could be a pain if you frequently need to scan big, double-sided papers.

Photo printing

For printing photos, the HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe isn’t intended. Images are grainy and heavily banded, and it is unable to print in color.
