Canon PIXMA TS202: A decent print-only inkjet printer

The Canon PIXMA TS202 is an inexpensive inkjet printer. It works with Canon’s PG-243 and CL-244 ink cartridges and has a two-cartridge system. Moreover, it is compatible with the high-yield PG-245XL and CL-246XL cartridges in addition to PG-245 and CL-246 cartridges. The printer can only be connected wirelessly since it requires a USB cable, which you will need to buy separately.

For domestic use

As a family printer, the Canon PIXMA TS202 falls short of expectations. If your family prints a lot or frequently, it will require a lot of maintenance because of its extremely poor page yield and sheet capacity. The cost-per-print is reasonable because ink is reasonably priced; but, the high maintenance requirements are plain inconvenient. You cannot scan priceless family images if you are a print-only model. Additionally, this model is wired-only, which means that a USB cable—which is not included in the package—is required to connect the printer to your computer in order to print. Positively, this printer prints colour more accurately than the majority of inexpensive printers. It’s acceptable if your child wishes to include some colour in their homework project or if you must print the occasional photo.

For office use

Poor performance for a small or home office printer is the Canon PIXMA TS202. If you print a lot, you’ll need to buy extra ink and add more sheets because it has very low page yields and a small sheet capacity. Additionally, this printer prints just seven black and two colour pages per minute, so long documents will require waiting. Lastly, because it does not have a scanner or wireless connectivity, this printer is not very adaptable. However, overall printing quality is acceptable—even excellent when printing in colour.

For students

For students, the Canon PIXMA TS202 is a bad option. Its inexpensive ink prices make it relatively low cost per print, but if you print regularly or in huge quantities, you’ll need to buy and replace ink cartridges frequently. Because there is restricted access to the bay, changing the cartridges is a headache.

Moreover, if you need to print lengthy articles or term papers, be prepared to wait around because this printer prints really slowly. Because it does not have a scanner or wireless connectivity, the printer’s overall usefulness is quite limited. Although there are certainly superior solutions for student needs, this printer does colour printing better than most at its price point.

Black and white printing

All things considered, the Canon PIXMA TS202 is a poor pick, even though it prints good black-and-white papers. This is due to its extremely poor page yield and expensive ongoing black-and-white print costs (even with the availability of high-yield cartridges). You should prepare for extensive maintenance, such as replacing the ink cartridges, if you print frequently. Lastly, as this model is print-only, nothing can be scanned.

Photo printing

When printing photos, the Canon PIXMA TS202 performs admirably. Because background items can be distinguished from foreground objects with clarity, it is very good at resolving minute details. Furthermore, the colour accuracy is better than other cheap printers, excluding Canon’s other inexpensive printers. The colour spectrum is somewhat constrained, though, and there is some discernible banding and graining during colour transitions. However, a variety of photo sizes can be printed on, which makes it a fantastic option for informal photo printing.
