The Canon PIXMA TS9520a/TS9521Ca is a wide-format color inkjet printer. This all-in-one device from Canon features the same five-cartridge system as its predecessor, the Canon PIXMA TS9520/TS9521C, with one pigment and one dye cartridge for black ink.

It is compatible with the high-yield XL and XXL cartridges from Canon and uses the PGI-280 black and CLI-281 color ink cartridges. You have three options for connecting to the printer: Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and USB. You may also print photographs from the SD card slot. Although it does not allow automated duplex scanning, it does have a flatbed scanner with an automatic feeder.

Domestic use

The Canon PIXMA TS9520a is recommended for family use. Every member of the household can easily access it thanks to its extensive connectivity choices, and because the ink cartridges are reasonably priced and produce a high number of prints, the printer has a low cost per print. Regarding print quality, documents aren’t as nice, but they still seem well enough for most purposes. Printed images, on the other hand, look vibrant and detailed. If you wish to digitize old family photos, the scanner can create high-quality scans; just be sure to pick the Photo setting, as the default scan mode eliminates a lot of fine details.

Office use

You can use the Canon PIXMA TS9520a in home offices or small scale workspaces. It is straightforward to use and has a wide range of connecting choices. It feels well-built. Overall, printed documents appear fairly well; but, if you want the greatest outcome, you’ll need to print in the High Quality option because the default print setting smudges black-color lettering. It can only print up to nine black or four color pages per minute, and it takes a long to initialize and print a single page. Sadly, its printing speed is very slow. The scanner can scan up to six pages per minute and does not enable duplex scanning, despite having an automated feeder to handle multi-page documents.

For students

Students can utilize the Canon PIXMA TS9520a with success. Its extensive networking capabilities facilitate printing from a variety of devices, and because its ink cartridges are reasonably priced and produce a high number of prints, it requires little ongoing maintenance. Overall, print quality is respectable, but because of its poor speed, it isn’t the ideal option for last-minute printing of lengthy essays. In addition to an automatic feeder for processing lengthy documents, the scanner features extended lid hinges that make it simpler to close the lid over large objects like textbooks.

Black and white printing

It prints black and white papers with average quality using the Canon PIXMA TS9520a. The print quality is hardly passable due to minor smearing around vertical lines and black letters. Printing in the High Quality setting will solve these problems, but it will require extra ink. However, it has a decent page yield and reasonably priced ink cartridges, which translate into low cost each print. Sadly, this printer prints at a rather slow pace—roughly nine pages per minute.

Photo printing

Photo printing is a terrific use for the Canon PIXMA TS9520a. More vivid and detailed images with superior color accuracy are produced by it than by other printers in its class. Because it is unable to replicate rich, saturated tones, images often appear somewhat darker than they did in the original. Because it prints a lot and the ink cartridges are reasonably priced, you won’t have to worry too much about ongoing expenses. Long-lasting high-yield ink cartridges are also available.
